A Journey
The idea for this path came from pop culture.
I, a fan of the Star Trek franchise, fell in love with the Qowat Milat and their doctrine of Absolute Candor.
Honesty is a double-edged blade in nearly all things.
When we speak truth, we severe illusions. We remove masks and reveal the rot beneath.
Honesty is a lonely path. Billy Joel famously sang an entire song about how it was "such a lonely word" as "everyone", he opined "was so untrue".
Yet, honesty is required to build trust within both relationships and societies.
I am living through yet another age in man's history where the truth has been so challenged that it is portrayed by its detractors as fantastical, even ruinous.
These attitudes are generational and shaped most of my generation. By my estimation, the progenitors of our issue seem unwilling to release the reigns. Their inherent inflexibility risks setting our society back many generations, through toxic policy making and the associated brain drain, as we lose our great minds to the savagery of hate.
It is time for us to ask the Baby Boomers to return with us to reality. The paths of science, rooted in truth and transparency. Ethics, which bind us to the right path in our dealings, protecting others from our own prejudices.
And yes, Faith. But only when rooted in hope.
But Above All Honesty.
On a presonal level, when I began to speak truth about my own personal story, in direct conflict with my biological families narrative, effort was made to shame me back to silence.
This only served to protect the people interfering with my own healing.
I do not exist as a foil for others. I am not a player in a tragedy. I am a person with rights. My story is mine, I have reclaimed it in truth.
It is my time to heal and live the life I choose. I choose Love.
But first I choose Candor. Truth in word, clarity of emotion.
I will speak my truth. I will take responsibility for my deeds and the emotions that drive them. I will endeavor to be at peace with both and be a force for righteousness.
My own story is a singular story, but it is what has brought me to this place. I will look back to my own actions and deeds for clartiy and closure; I am human. I err, and to improve I must Admit, Examine, Forgive, Learn, and Practice.
Through this healing of myself, I hope to become a better advocate for others in the future.
Join me, and choose life.
